What does being a mentor for CSC324/326 look like?
- Alumni mentors provide tips to help students build their projects, as well as career-related advice, typically in the second half of the semester.
- Once assigned to a project, students match their project topic with two or three potential alumni and reach out to them to request mentorship.
- Mentors take a different approach: some are more hands-on, whereas others prefer a more holistic approach (such as asking students questions to help them figure out solutions to their issues/problems by themselves) – both approaches are totally fine.
- For semester-long mentorship, we send mentors a survey to evaluate the students’ professionalism with their mentors.
